Who is Dave Robson?
One of the most important qualities in a Life Coach is a rich and diverse
life experience. Having worked in the corporate sector, in marketing,
advertising, public relations and trade press journalism in my early years,
then switching to self-employment as a salesman (briefly) then a carpenter,
freelance copywriter and author, I am very familiar with new beginnings
and life changes. Woodturning and joinery is one of my passions, and sailing
is another (I am an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor). Other strong interests
include music, good food, literature and movies.
I have done my share of searching. Many years ago I realised I was heartily
fed up with poverty, depression, inner conflict, under-achieving and feeling
like a misfit. But most of all, I hated the feeling that I was allowing
others to control my life. That was the day I woke up, decided to change
everything and join those who were in control. In those days there was
no Life Coaching so it took a long time, but gradually I did transform
my life and took control of it. At the same time I seemed to have evolved
a reputation for plain speaking, which I believe stands me in good stead.
Self-development, humanistic psychology and meditation have been powerful
interests I have pursued in many ways since the sixties, but always something
was wanting. Then in 2001 I heard about Life Coaching and without hesitation
jumped right in, and a new and very rewarding phase in my adventures began.
I trained with The Coaching Academy, Portsmouth. (For more information
about The Coaching Academy and the training they offer, click on the link
on the "Make contact" page).
As a hands-on person at heart, the power and simplicity of Coaching appeals
to me and I always marvel at the results my clients achieve. There’s
no getting away from it, successful results are immensely satisfying.
My philosophy in a nutshell:
A very wise guru advocated, “be realistic, plan for a miracle”.
That’s when I realised it is possible to make our most dearly held
visions come true as long as we never settle for mediocrity or compromise.
Positive thinking is just one of the secrets of manifesting the life you
want. I really do believe that anything is possible, hence I sometimes
tell potential new clients, “the answer’s yes, now what’s
the problem?”
